The advantages of the HDI are:

  1. They’re composed of more than one indicator (three)
  2. You can easily compare countries to each other.

What are the disadvantages of the HDI?

A

The disadvantages of the HDI are:

  1. There are three indicators but they do not take into account an environmental element.
  2. Some countries do not publish their data to the UN ( who runs it) so they are not included.
  3. The HDI produces just a number. It does not take into account other issues that are occurring inside a country.
