The HDI takes into account:
- The GDP per capita
- literacy rates

What are the advantages of the HDI?
A
The advantages of the HDI are:
- They’re composed of more than one indicator (three)
- You can easily compare countries to each other.

What are the disadvantages of the HDI?
A
The disadvantages of the HDI are:
- There are three indicators but they do not take into account an environmental element.
- Some countries do not publish their data to the UN ( who runs it) so they are not included.
- The HDI produces just a number. It does not take into account other issues that are occurring inside a country.
