Q

How can Erratics be used to reconstruct past glaciation?

A

Boulders are dumped by glacial errosionin places they would normally be found. The rock type can tell us where the glacier originated and analysising the distribution provides data about patterns of ice flow.

Q

How do drumlins show past glaciation?

A

The stoss end points up glacier and the lee end down glacier

The elogation index indicattes the speed of the ice movement (longer drumlin faster ice movement)

Q

How can till help to reconstruct past glaciation?

A

Till analysis of clast orientation can indicate the direction of ice movement. Analysis of till geology can also indicate provenance.
