27: Drugs for PE, PAH Flashcards
1
Q
acute vs chronic PE
A
- acute: central within lumen, upstream distension of involved vessel
- chronic: eccentric with 50%+ occlusion, evidence of recanalization, arterial web formation around the clot
2
Q
PAH definition
A
sustained mean pulmonary arterial pressure (mPAP) >20 mmHg at rest
3
Q
normal mPAP
A
14 +/- 3 mmHg
4
Q
three treatments that do not work on PAH
A
anticoagulants, diuretics, O2 therapy
5
Q
endothelin in pts with PAH
A
endothelin is elevated - directly related to dz severity and prognosis
