2.6.6 Attenuation& Interference Issues Flashcards
Card 1: Attenuation
Definition: The loss of signal strength as it travels through a medium (cable). Measured in decibels (dB).
Card 2: Insertion Loss
Definition: (Same as attenuation) A measure of the signal loss in a cable, from transmitter to receiver.
Card 3: Decibel (dB) Loss
A unit of measurement expressing the ratio between two values, typically signal strength at the source and at the destination, using a logarithmic scale.
Card 4: Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)
Definition: Interference caused by electrical or magnetic fields from external sources.
Card 5: Radio Frequency Interference (RFI)
Definition: A specific type of EMI that occurs in the frequencies used for radio transmissions.
Card 6: Alien Crosstalk
Definition: Interference from signals in adjacent cables.
