25. Neuroplasticity pt. 2 Flashcards
Intrinsic feedback vs extrinsic
Intrinsic- felt by the learner themselves
extrinsic- provided by external source
Two types of extrinsic feedback:
Knowledge of performance vs knowledge of results:
knowledge of preformance- In reference to the quality of the movement being carried out, without mentioning the goal or outcome
knowledge of results- how close you are to acheiving the desired result
Massed vs distributed practice
Mass practice - all at once without time to process
Distributed practice- breaks in between to allow processing of what you learned
Constant vs variable practice
which is best for motor learning?
Which is best for preformance?
variable- motor learning
constant- preformance
Whole vs part training
training the whole movement vs training individual parts of it
Random vs blocked practice
Presenting activities you will practice in random order vs in sequence
T or F: mental practice is important for neuro patients
True it is highly effective
Mental practice primes the brain for motor learning
Guidance vs discovery learning
Note that too much guidance is not good for motor learning.
Associative learning/classical conditioning for motor learning
Pair 2 stimuli during movement training
early stage: verbal cue w/ physical assistance
late stage: give verbal cue while fading the level of physical assistance
