2.4 Flashcards
compare and contrast stages 1 and 5
Total population is the lowest in stage 1 and is the highest in stage 5. The birth rate and death rate are both slow.
What happens in stage 2
Birth rate stays strong and death rate drops while the population continues to grow.
what happens in stages 3 and 4
birth rate goes down and death rate evens out, allowing total population to slowly start to even out as well.
How does an age structure diagram assist you in predicting population growth
Using the age in which females reproduce and looking at the bottom of the diagram, we can see how much each female makes. Then using that information, we can infer how fast the population grows.
What are some differences between developed vs developing nations in human pop.
Migration rate, percentage of population, births.
How do births show if a nation is developed or developing?
The number of births shows how intelligent people are since most smart women do not have that many kids.
Estimated rate of pop. growth with only the numbers of births and deaths
natural increase
What is a factor affecting the growth rate?
generation time.
More developed countries tend to use up more resources
True
Developing vs developed countries at the end of their lifespan shows what difference?
How much survive at that age with developed countries having better healthcare and living to that age while developing countries barely have anyone at that age.
