23- Parathyroid gland: Calcitriol - Calcitonin - Hormones Flashcards
How does Ca influences the n.s
Hyper-Calcemia = depression of N.S Hypo-Calcemia = Excites N.S .. due to increansed permeability to Na
Where is the highest concentration of phosphate found in?
85% in bone
What is tetany?
When Ca levels drop, causing excitation and discharge spontaenous muscle contraction/seizures
what are the bone salts?
Ca , P , OH-Patitte
How are Hydroxyappetite formed
Ca salt precipitates when collagen monomers polymerize in fibers..formin osteoids.. and these osteoid capture the osteo-blasts .. Forming on surfaces Hydroxyappetite crystals
Where is the site of most of the exchangeable ca?
Bone
What effect does Vit.D have on the stomach?
It helps absorb Ca
How does Ca infulence 1,25di-Ohcholecalciferol
If ca is high = 1,25dioh… formation is lowered
what action does 1,25dioh.. have?
Acts on gut, kidney and bones to inc ca/P absorption into the ECF
What effects can Vit.D have in smaller quantities
Well it can promote bone calcification..
Increasing Ca/P absorbtion in GIT
And
Enhancing mineralization
What can PTH do to the body?
Lowering P [ ] = Dec Tubular re-absortion of P and Na and K
Increase Ca, Mg, H [ ] in tubules
What can PTH do?
Destroy bone, but due to big excess of Ca in bone .. there is not a immediate effect its longterm.
