Experience, Hunch/Instinct, Data (the scientific approach)

why are specialists brought in for decision-making?
A
- Using past events to help and shape a decision and evaluate possible variables based on past actions/events
- Experienced leaders are often brought in to consult on essential decisions or are kept on even after they stop dealing with day-to-day tasks.
- Sometimes goes against the data/evidence collected which supports a particular decision (high risk)
- More common with new markets/products/services as previous data may not exist
-Often connected to the leadership style or personality of the leader(s)
- Happens when a quick decision is necessary
