What is remuneration?
It is the money paid to employees for their work towards an organisation.
What is a time rate?
It is when an employee is pain according to the amount of time they work.
What is a salary?
It is a method of remuneration, which is expressed in annual terms and paid monthly. This is usually paid to non-manual workers.
What is a piece rate?
It is a method of pay where the workers receive an amount of money for each unit produced.
What are the disadvantages of piece rate?
- It can’t be measured if the work can’t be measured.
- The quality of the output may suffer.
- Workers might use dangerous practices to work faster.
What is performance related pay?
It is a method of payment used to motivate non-manual workers. The pay is based off of their performance in work.
What are bonus payments?
They are extras that are paid in addition to the salary. They are usually paid if targets are met.
What is a commision?
It is a payment for reaching a target. (Often used to reward sales staff)
What is promotion?
It is when an employee is promoted to a higher position in the business.
What are fringe benefits?
They are perks over and above the normal wage.
What are some examples of fringe benefits?
- Company car
- Free private health insurance
- Free or subsidised accommodation
- Gym
What is job rotation?
This is one way to make work more interesting, by allowing employees to change their jobs from time to time.
What is autonomy?
It is giving workers the authority to make choices and decisions about the way they work.
