What is induction training?
It is training given to employees who fist start a job.
What might induction training include?
- A complete tour of the workplace
- Intro to senior staff

What is on the job training?
Training that happens while doing the job.
What are the types of on the job training?
- Watching another worker
- Mentoring
- Job rotation
What is off the job training?
It is training that happens away from the work area.
What are the advantages of on the job training?
- Output is being produced
- Cheaper than other forms of training
- Easy to organise
What are the disadvantages of on the job training?
- Output may be lost if the workers make mistakes
- May be stressful for the worker if showing others
- Staff may be frustrated if they are unpaid trainers
What are the advantages of off the job training?
- Output not affected by mistakes.
- Learning can’t be distracted by work.
- Customers and others are not put at risk.
What are the disadvantages of off the job training?
- No output
- Can be expensive
- Takes time to organise
