What is the quantity of binder material injected into any hole intersecting coal shall not exceed?
The quantity of binder material injected into any hole intersecting coal shall not exceed 200 kilograms. This limit does not apply to a hole that is drilled in stone or where the packer confines injection materials to the stone.
Can PUR be injected into strata already grouted?
The binder material must not be injected into strata which has been grouted with cement grout within the previous 24 hour period.
What happens if communications on the face fail?
If communications on the face fail pumping is to cease immediately.
What will the safety zones of operation be?
The zone of operation will be: For pumping from the TG 150 m on the return side of the pump through to a point 10 m on the intake side of the injection point
Who has to be notified that pumping of polyurethane injection is being used at the mine?
The Mine Manager
The Area Coordinator in charge of the operation shall ensure that the intention to commence PUR injection is communicated to all persons When?
The Area Coordinator in charge of the operation shall ensure that the intention to commence PUR injection is communicated to all persons via the 24 hour plan and shift change communications.
How much ventilation is required for the injecting of PUR?
The site of operation shall be adequately ventilated and no person shall work with the binder materials in any place where there is less than 0.5 metres per second ventilation. The ERZ Controller in charge of the operation shall be responsible for monitoring the adequacy of ventilation.
List the PPE required for PUR operation?
Operators shall wear eye protection, rubber gloves and full length protective clothing, eg. Overalls Long sleeveShirt and Trousers. This person shall be fully acquainted with the possible hazards and the procedures for dealing with them. In addition the work site shall be inspected by the Area Supervisor at least once per shift while work is in progress.
If any excess heating is observed What is the process?
During the injection, the site shall be thoroughly inspected for any evidence of heating by the ERZ Controller or operators. If any excess heating is observed, pumping shall be immediately stopped and cooling water applied to the site.
After PUR ing how often is the site inspected?
Commencing immediately following the injection, the site of the operation shall be inspected at intervals of not more than 30 minutes for a period of 2 hours to ensure that no undue heating occurs.
List the Fire fighting equipment required for PUR Operation?
Suitable fire fighting equipment shall be available nearby on the intake side of the site while the work is in progress and until completion of the last inspection. Such fire fighting equipment shall contain, as a minimum, a fire fighting depot with sufficient hose to reach the site of injection. Two 9 kg fire extinguishers shall be located 25m outbye of the injection pump. In the case of the longwall, such fire fighting equipment shall be as follows:

Where shall the PUR procedure be located?
A copy of this procedure shall be displayed on the Mine Noticeboard and the underground crib room where the work is being carried out whilst an injection operation is in progress at the mine.
What shall happen to the site of the Injection when complete?
On completion, the work site shall be cleared as far as reasonably practicable of all exposed binder material and such material shall be removed from the underground workings forthwith.
What happens to the empty Drums of chemicals?
