2.1- Skill Aquisition- Transfer Flashcards
Gross motor skills
physical skills that involve the large muscles and different body parts
Gross motor ability
Innate characteristics which allow movements to occur such as strength, flexibility, balance and whole-body co-ordination
Transfer of learning definition
The gain or loss in the capability to perform 1 task as a result of practicing another
Fundamental Movement Patterns
Common and essential movements performed in daily life and are involved in exercise motions within a training session- things with similar FMPs have similar movements
Coaching implications of Transfer of Learning
Sessions must be relevant to real sports situations, performers must be exposed to as many transferable skills, identify similarities, emphasise future skill transfer
perceptual elements
aspects of a task that deal with the environmental or movement, information that leads to correct performance
Positive transfer
mastery of one task aids learning or performing another
Negative transfer
When experience hinders learning in a new situation- causes poor habit formation
Bilateral transfer
The transfer of learning from one limb to another
Proactive transfer
The influence of one skill on a skill yet to be performed
Retroactive transfer
