Name three tests used to evaluate documents that claim to be historical
Internal test, the external test, and the Bibliographic test
Give a brief description of each of the tests listed in question three
The internal test asks the question is it consistent within the text
In what test is Aristotle’s dictum used? Why must we use it?
In the internal test.
There are two reasons to believe that the copy of an agent document might not be the same as the original. One is that the person making the coffee mate have made some unintentional mistakes. What is the other reason?
A deliberate change made Because someone asked them to for a certain copy
What are two things that help they document past the bibliographic test?
Copies written close to the original document and other copies of different documents close to that time period.
That is the Bible and contain any contradictions that make it fail the internal test?
No.
Does the Bible have any difficult passages that might seem like contradictions?
Yes
Why are the two accounts given in Acts 9:7 and Acts 22:9 not contradictions?
One of them is to hear sound and the other is to understand the sounds
Why are the two different genealogies of Christ given in Luke 3 and Matthew 1 not contradictory?
One is the line of Joseph and one is the lineage of Mary
Why can we say that the Bible passes the external test better than any other document of its time?
Because it has the most archaeological evidence
Suppose a document passes the internal test and a bibliographic test but some of the conclusions of archaeologists go against what the document says. If the document has some or other external support (other historical documents some archaeological evidence), why should you not automatically say that it fails the external test?
The evidence could be wrong
Why can we say that the New Testament passages the bibliographic test better than any other document of its time?
It’s first copy was written very soon after the original and there are other supporting document
