What is mycoses?
- Infections caused by fungi
- found: soil, plants and animals
- mild to superficial infections to life threatening systemic disease
3 main types
1. superficial mycoses
2. subcutaneous mycoses
3. systemic mycoses

What are superfical mycoses
- only affects outer layers of the skin,hair and nails
- caused: dermatophyte fungi
- Transmitted: contact w/infected humans/animals/contaminated soil/fomites
Symptoms
- itching
- scaling
- discoloration skin and nails

- Athlete’s foot
- Ringworm
- Scalp ringworm
