2. Quantum Change Flashcards
Describe the essence of “quantum change”
It is predictably unpredictable (not always measurable) a moment that something just makes sense; a small thing can lead to a big change and everyone is different so we can’t predict when things are gonna happen but some of the patterns of people can give us clues as to how to manage their unpredictability
Why is it important to understand quantum contributions to change?
It is important because it makes sense of all of the things that don’t add up. It explains that a decision or change can come from a wave of motivation or inspiration rather than a linear additive sequence; a sudden insight or sense of finding ones truth
Butterfly Effect (What aspects of change are “quantum”)
One little difference can make a huge impact (one tweak not necessarily a big intervention)
Sensitive to Initial Conditions (What aspects of change are “quantum”)
Basically applies the butterfly effect to any point in someone’s process, one minor tweak at that point can send someone in another direction
Fractal Patterns (What aspects of change are “quantum”)
Consistency’s we can leverage among people or within a person (use strengths in other areas of their lives or use something on someone that we have used before on another)
How does the understanding of quantum change fit into managing health behavior?
Related to hope, even though people have tried over and over that next time can be different; If you keep trying something maybe one day it will catch on
