What are ‘nutrients’?
Substances in food that keep your body healthy.
Name the 4 main food groups.
Carbohydrates, Proteins, Fats & oils and Vitamins & minerals
What are the two main carbohydrates we eat?
Sugar and starch
Why is starch a better form of energy than sugary drinks?
Starch releases energy more slowly and thus last longer. Sugary drinks give you a quick burst of energy.
What food promotes growth and repair of your body?
Proteins
What food group helps your immune system fight infection?

What are saturated fats?
Unhealthy fats mainly from animals
Describe the role of `Vitamin A.

Keeps our insides healthy and prevents constipation, diabetes and heart problems.

A lack of Vitamin D in the diet.
What causes tooth decay?
Too much sugar in your diet.
What causes constipation?
Too little fibre in your diet.
What causes diabetes?
An unhealthy diet, lack of exercise and being overweight can all contribute.
