It took place in the 13th and 14th centuries
What happened in 1212?
There was the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa that was crucial for doing the Reconquista. Christians united against Muslims and they could finish the Reconquista.
Explain the expansion of Castile in the 13th and 14th centuries.
13th Century: Very quickly. Christians advanced through Guadiana and Guadalquivir valleys.
Ferdinand III and Alfonso X: conquered –>Baja Extremadura
–>Huelva, Cádiz, Tarifa, Sevilla…
14th Century: The great economic crisis provoked the establishment of a permanent border with Granada.
Explain the Aragonese expansion
It was an important conflict between Aragón and France for the territory of Rousillon.
Aragon focused on the Mediterranean area (Balearic Islands, Valencia, Alicante. Castile and Aragón sign the Treaty of Almiza –> Murcia was part of Castile.
