Rational comparisons between the US and UK.
A
- Both executives can use a range of formal and informal powers to advance policy goals.
- The PM is head of the party and able to advance their own goals using their party. The President is the de-facto head of the party, and expects Congress to advance his policy goals.
- The PM is often in a stronger position as (often) they command a majority in Parliament, the President acts alone so does not have this support.

- President and PMs are the individual focus of the electoral system in each country.
- The role of the cabinet in both countries is a focus of media attention and are considered a reflection of the head of the exec.
- The powers that the exec. can gain are often a result of media attnetion, poll ratings and unofficial powers they can assume.
