172-176. Week 5 PBL - Conception Flashcards
What are the 3 ligaments of the female reproductive tract?
Broad ligament of uterus
Ovarian ligament
Suspensatory ligament
Which ligament carries the ovarian artery and vein?
Suspensatory ligament
What is the blood supply, venous drainage and lymphatics of the OVARIES?
Ovarian artery - branch from aorta at level of renal artery
Ovarian vein - drains to IVC on right, and left renal vein on left
Aortic nodes
Define antiversion
The uterus is bent forward at a 90 degree angle to the vagina
Define antiflexion
The body of the uterus is bent forwards on the cervix
What is the blood supply, venous drainage and lymphatics of the UTERUS?
Uterine artery - branch of the internal iliac artery
Uterine vein - drain to the internal iliac vein
Body of uterus - para-aortic nodes
Cervix - internal iliac nodes
What epithelium lines the uterine tubes?
Ciliated simple columnar cells
What are the three layers of the uterus known as?
Perimetrium - laterally becomes broad ligament of uterus
Myometrium
Endometrium
What is the muscular arrangement of the myometrium?
Inner and outer longitudinal layers
Middle circular layer
Thickest in fundus, thinnest in cervix
What epithelium lines the uterus?
Simple columnar epithelium
What are the two layers of the endometrium called?
Stratum basalis
Stratum functionalis
What is the blood supply of the endometrium?
Uterine artery -> arcuate artery -> radial arteries
Then:
stratum basalis - straight arterioles
stratum functionalis - spiral arterioles
What is the epithelial lining of the vagina?
Non-keratinised stratified squamous
