What is a credential society?
A society that evaluates people on the basis of their schooling

What is school choice?
Suggests that having schools in competition with one another will force them to do a better job. Basically creates a free market for education that allows parents to “shop” for the best value. Mostly pushed by right-wing people/think tanks.
Is homeschooling effective?
In general, yes, it was found that in families who chose to homeschool for educational reasons (as opposed to religious) students outperformed those who went to school
What sre some criticisms people have of homeschooling?
It reduces the amount of fedaral funding going to local public schools which hurts the majority of students
What is mainstreaming?
Integrating students with disabilities or special needs into the overall education program (form of inclusive education)
How many Canadian adults are enrolled in some type of schooling/training?
Approximately half
What does adult education ecompass?
Formal educational credit based schooling, informal job training, self-directed learning, further education
Why do adults seek further education?
Career advancement, personal enrichment
