• Cutters are used t ogut out nets which can be folded into 3D shapes
• Steel cutting dies are used to cut the paper/ board. Creasing rules are used to crease areas for folds.
• In insustry, some machines will cut, crease and fold the net in one process

• The stamped out net is placed on to a folding table
• Some die cutters may include moving parts that help to bend or fold the net automatically. E.G when making boxes, the die cut net is held firmly while the sides are bent along fold lines

Ideal for prototype or small scale production because is can cut and engrave paper and boards.

• It privides a high level of detail
• It allows the design to be quickly edited and then manufactured
