14. Landing Gear and Brakes Flashcards
How is main gear shock absorption provided?
2 urethane blocks absorb impact loads and a third urethane block controls rebound.
What is the normal main gear tire pressure?
38 psi (above -29 deg c)
What is the normal nose gear tire pressure?
32 psi
What must be removed before tow bar is attached, otherwise the hydraulic steering mechanism will be damaged?
Pip pin that connects the two torque links together.
To what degree can nose wheel steering steer nose wheel?
60° either side of centre.
How is the nose wheel held in the centred position during flight?
By a spring loaded pin on the upper torque link. This pin engages into lower nose leg retention clamp notch when nose gear leg extends fully.
What will happen to the nose wheel following system pressure loss?
If not centered after takeoff, nose wheel will deflect 60 degrees left or right and be impossible to centre.
Parking brake pressure is limited to?
850 psi
