Widow story has two important qualities
1) Elijah had faith God would protect him even thoughr Zarapeth was in Jezebel country
2) The widow had faith that Elijahs God would provide for her. Both obeyed God amd put faith to the test
People had started worshipping at Baal
When God told Elijah to leave Israel it was a judgement on Israel for turning away from him to Baal.
God wanted to provoke jealousy and shame in the jewis nation and bring about repentence.
Baal can’t keep a widow and son alive in the famine BUT God CAN
God brings life wherever he goes.
When people trust God he is faithful to them
Death of Widows son
1) shows God more powerful than death. Elijah not only touches the body but also carries it - showing that God is stronger than the uncleaniness of death.
The widow thought her sins had caught up with her - but by bringing her son back to life God showed her that even sin was no obstacle to Gods power
