12.7 Anatomy: Vessels, nerves and lymphatics of abdomen Flashcards
Where does the abdominal aorta divide into the L and R common iliac?
L4
What does the celiac trunk supply?
Foregut:
Liver until papilla
What does the superior mesenteric artery supply?
Midgut:
Rest of duodenum until transverse colon
What does the inferior mesenteric artery supply?
Hindgut:
Last part of transverse colon to rectum
Describe the divisions of the celiac trunk
Celiac trunk into 3 main branches:
L gastric artery (oesophageal branches)
Splenic arteries (Short gastric, 2x gastroepiploic)
Common hepatic (L hepatic, R hepatic–>cystic artery)
What are the arteries of the small intestine?
SMA gives off branches to R:
Intestinal branches to L
1st branch: Anterior inf. pancreodeuodenal artery
2nd branch: R colic
3rd branch: Ileocolic (colic and ileal branch)
What are the arteries of the large intestine?
Middle colic artery, R colic artery, Marginal artery
IMA–>superior rectal artery
Where does the blood from the GIT go?
Through portal vein (behind neck of pancreas at L2)
Where are sites for portosystemic anastamoses? (5)
Behind reteroperitoneal viscera
Top of liver
Lower 3rd of oesophagus
Anal canal (sup rectal vein/mid or inf. rectal vein)
Anterior abdominal wall (umbilical vein/ligamentum teres)
What are the innervations of the SNS in the GIT?
Preganglionic (T6-L2)
Ganglion clusters around aorta/renal unpaired As
What are the innervations of the PSNS in the GIT
Foregut, midgut (vagus)
Hindgut (pelvic splanchnics)
Postganglionic to viscera (foregut T6-9, midgut T8-12, hindgut T12-L2)
What is the drainage of the body?
R lymphatic duct drains R torso/arm/head
Thoracic duct drains everything else
