12.5 Anatomy: Peritoneal cavity Flashcards
What is the nerve supply of the parietal and visceral peritoneum?
Parietal: somatic
Visceral: visceral
What are the unpaired viscera that have lost their mesentery? (3)
Duodenum
Pancreas w/ bile duct
Ascending, descending colon
List the order of retro/intraperitoneal structures from the stomach to the sigmoid colon?
Starting with intraperitoneal and alternating:
Stomach Duodenum Jejunum, ileum Ascending colon Transverse colon Descending colon Sigmoid colon
Where does the transverse mesocolon sit?
Where does it and the other mesenteries attach?
Across front of pancreas and 12nd part of duodenum
attaches to post ab. wall as does ‘the mesentery’, ‘sigmoid mesocolon’
How many layers is the greater omentum? Where does it attach?
4 layers, attaches to posterior abdominal wall
What ligaments are there around the stomach?
Gastrophrenic (superiorly) Gastro-lienal/splenic (laterally) Gastrocolic (inferiorly) Hepatoduodenal (laterally) Hepatogastric (laterally)
What is the communication between the greater and lesser sac?
The epiploic foramen of Winslow
What is behind the stomach?
A ‘bursa’ or potential space
What type of structures are the pancreas and spleen?
Pancreas: secondarily retroperitoneal
Spleen: intraperitoneal
What runs in the free edge of the lesser omentum?
The portal triad
