Multiple sclerosis
Progressive disease
Result of abnormality in immune system that attacks myelin sheath in brain and spinal cord
Prevents transmission of impulses from and to brain
Alzheimers disease
Loss of abilty to reason and take care of oneself
Forgetful confused or disoriented
Due to deterioration of brain
If continues will lose ability to read write eat talk walk etc

Due to shrinkage of nervous system
Cause tremors in limbs jaw foot and face
Dificulty mantaining body posture and balance
Lou gehrig / Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
Caused by deuteriation and death of motor neurones which control movement of muscle
ADHD
Brain disease cause someone to become hyperactive, unable to concentrate and gets easily bored
Autism
Disease related to development of nerves in brain
Experience problems in communicating and interacting
Epilepsy
Abnormal activities in parts of brain
Nerve cells produce unusual signals
May become unconcious and experience muscle spasm
Brain paralysis (cerebral palsy)
Brain paralysis because of brain damage before or after baby birth
Possibly occur in children between 3-5 yrsold
Causes failure in muscle and ability of motor neurone to function properly
Effects of drug abuse
addiction that cause withdrawal symptoms such as shivering sweating and vomiting
Effect of stimulant drugs
Increase activity of central nervous symptom
Excessive use cause temporary euphoria followed by dpression
Sedative drugs(depressants)
Delays transmissions of nerve impulses
Calms the mind
Hallucinogenic drugs
Causes hallucinations
Relief pain and anxiety
Narcotic drugs
Delays normal functions of brain
Alcohol
Disrupts coordination and thinking
Delays transfer of nerve impulses
