Reason for forced migration in Nigeria
In 2014, terrorist group Boko Haram kidnapped 276 schoolgirls from the village of Chibok in northern Nigeria.
Violence associated with Boko Haram cause many people to flee the region.
Consequences of forced migration in Nigeria
People in the region the group controls have been left unable to feed themselves following 60% of farmer’s being displaced
Over a third of health care facilities closed down, and health workers have been abducted and killed
People in the region lack access to fresh water and sanitation.
Economic consequences of Syrian refugees
Displacement increase the chances of having no income by 41%
More than 800,000 stopped receiving income after displacement
Only 53% of individuals who received some income prior to displacement continued to receive any part of it after it.
