Q

Identify the Latissimus dorsi muscle, its attachments, innervation, and function.

A
  • Attachments: Vertebral, Scapular, Costal, and Iliac origins all insert onto the Crest of the Lesser tuberosity of the humerus.
  • Innervation: Thoracodorsal n. (C6-C8).
  • Function: Adducts, internally rotates and extends the brachium. Depresses the scapula.

A
  • Minor’s attachments: medially to nuchal ligament, spinous processes of C7 and T1; laterally to medial end of scapula’s spine
  • Major’s attachments: medially to spinous processes of T2-T5; laterally to medial border of scapula
  • Action (both): retract and rotate scapula, fix scapula to thoracic wall
  • Innervation (both): dorsal scapular n. (C4-C5)
