1.11 Flight Controls Flashcards
What are the primary flight controls for the PC-21?
- Ailerons
- Roll spoilers
- Elevator
- Rudder
What are the secondary flight controls of the PC-21?
- Flaps
- Airbrake
What controls have trimming systems?
- Elevator
- Aileron
- Rudder
What does the gust control lock do?
Prevents the ailerons, elevator and rudder from moving when the aircraft is parked on the ground.
How can hydraulic power to the aileron and roll spoiler actuators be isolated?
By selecting the TRIM AIL PWR switch to OFF
What cautions come on when the TRIM AIL PWR off switch comes on?
SERVO and SKID cautions
What does the artificial feel unit for lateral movement of the control column?
It is provided to Centre the column and gives increasing resistance to movement when the control column is deflected laterally.
Does each aileron have a balance tab? Are they functional at the moment on RAAF PC-21 aircraft?
Yes
No
Are the elevators supplemented by hydraulic power?
No, they are controlled just through a system of push pull rods, cranks and cables.
Are the two elevators connected? By what?
Yes by a torque tube
What happens if one elevator is damanged?
The torque tube will shear, disconnecting the damaged surface and enabling the undamaged elevator to operate normally.
What does the bob weight do?
Reduces the control force required to pull high g maneuvers
What do the balance trim tabs do on each elevator?
When the elevator trim tab moves, the balance trim tab moves in the opposite direction. This decreases aerodynamic moment about its hinges and reduces force required to deflect the elevator.
Does the rudder have hydraulic augmentation?
No it s a conventional manually-operated rudder.
If opposing trim selections are made simultaneously in the front and rear cockpits, what happens?
The associated trim actuator will stop until one or bother trimmers are released.
