- Any wound, booster <5y: Observe
contraindications to ANY vaccine (2)
- Pt is very sick (fever >104)
2. prior anaphylaxis from previous dose
Flu vaccine: live vs recombinant
Who doesn’t get live vaccine?
- Egg allergy
- Immunocompromised CAN receive it (even though live attenuated virus)
Pneumovax vaccine
-who gets it, when
Once, age 65. basically everyone (but mainly disease–heart, lung, kidney, liver, DM etc)
Zostavax
-who gets it, when
Once, age 60.
everyone
Hep A/B vaccine
–who gets it, when
3 dose, children
- Day 1: A/B
- Month 1: B
- Month 6: A/B
Meningococcus vaccine
-who gets it, when
Once, Age 11
-if did not get as kid, give to: College, Military, Hajj to Mecca
HPV vaccine
-who gets it, when
-Pre-teens, before sexually active. (so 11-12).
-recommended for women through 26, men through 21
3 doses over 6 mo.
MMR vaccine

- contraindications?

- live, so immunosuppresed contraindication
HiB vaccine

- contraindications?
- does not protect from what HiB disease
- all children
- no contraindications
- protect from epiglottitis and meningitis, but not HiB PNA
