When does a person commit an offence?

A

They perform an aviation function at a time when his
ability to perform the function is impaired because of drink or drugs.
They carry out an activity which is ancillary to an
aviation function at a time when his ability to perform the function is impaired because drink or drugs.
In this section “drug” includes any intoxicant other
than alcohol.
Section 94 defines “aviation function” and “ancillary
activity” for the purposes of this Part of the Act.

What is the prescribed limit of alcohol?

A

In the case of breath, 9 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml.
In the case of blood 20 milligrams of alcohol in 100ml. (one quarter of the drink drive limit)
In the case of urine, 27 milligrams of alcohol in 100ml.

A

The UK in line with Europe and Adopted (EU)
legislation have developed AMC’s and GM to
ATM/ANS IR Annex IV Part-ATS ATS.OR.320
ORS 9 Decision No.6
This is referred to as SRATCOH.
And is also detailed in See CAP 670 Part D.

Post traumatic stress
To alleviate stress related symptoms, there is a
system called CISM Critical incident Stress
Management adopted by numerous airports.
The aim is to act ASAP following an incident to
encourage staff back to work in the shortest
timeframe while maintaining good mental health.
