it is important in thai since they actually tell time using these although they are the same as english except insignificant ‘dusk’. there are 7.

1-midnight 2-dawn 3-morning 4-noon
5-afternoon 6-evening 7-night
24 || 1 2 3 4 5 || 6* 7 8 9 10 11 || 12 ||
13 14 15 16 || 17 18 || 19 20 21 22 23
* this is a bit different so 8 parts if count this.

easy(/my) way:
remove the 4 mids (6s,12s), groups 1-4, 7-11.
6s have special term in day n night.
5s are an exception which likes to go both way.

division is sometimes up to a person, is one of those that happen through generation.
e.g.,some ppl say 4pm ‘evening’ for ‘afternoon’.

หกโมงเช้า = 0600
หกโมงเย็น = 1800 (also 1700)
เที่ยง(วัน) = 1200 (วัน can be omitted bcuz คืน is a must)
เที่ยงคืน = 0000

irregular genX usage: สี่โมงเย็น(1600) หกทุ่ม(0000)
morning afternoon evening: ตอน เช้า บ่าย เย็น

4 parts after removing four specials

A

dawn: ตี– = strike (pronounce just like mm) | 1-5
morning: –โมง = hour | 7-11
afternoon: บ่าย–(โมง) | 13-16
night: –ทุ่ม | 19-23 (restart from one when counting)

morning afternoon evening: ตอน เช้า บ่าย เย็น
