what is the purpose of check flights?
to ensure the flight characteristics and function in flight do not differ from normal conditions
what are maintenance check flights used for?
to provide reassurance of performance or establish correct functioning of a system which cannot be established on the ground
what should happen after a check flight?
any defects should be listed and classed according to its impact on safety.
what markings are used to identify post check flight defects?
R - requires rectification before flight
FT - require re-checking in flight following rectification
what is a flight test manual (FTM)?
policies and procedures detailing flight testing activities
what should a FTM include? (2)
*organisation structure,
*links between different departments and their coordination with each other
what safety equipment should be considered for Flight test programme?
*items part of standard fit - lifejackets, oxygen masks, emergency escape slides, first aid kits
*additional items to reduce risk in particular circumstances - non-standard escape hatches, parachutes, life rafts or flame-retardant flight suits
