Who shall be responsible for ensuring that vehicles and apparatus are parked in accordance with all applicable traffic laws and the guidelines set forth in this document.
TFD Battalion Chiefs, Company Officers, Paramedic Supervisors, In-Charge Paramedics and staff members
Who shall be responsible for:
- Approving TFD-issued parking placards for FCC personnel
- Assigning parking areas for FCC personnel
The Fire Communications Center (FCC) Manager
Who shall be responsible for enforcing the guidelines for parking at TFD stations set forth in this document.
TFD Station Captains
Who shall be responsible for creating, maintaining and issuing TFD parking placards.
The Senior Secretary at Fire Headquarters
TFD Vehicles and Apparatus
- TFD vehicles and apparatus may be parked next to the curb within 15 feet of fire hydrants provided:
- TFD personnel shall comply with all posted time limits for parking.
- TFD personnel shall not park in a “wrong way” configuration.
- TFD personnel shall not park in, park on and/or block the following areas:
someone remains in the vehicle or apparatus and that person is capable of driving the vehicle or apparatus.
a. Sidewalks
b. Driveways
c. Crosswalks
d. Planting or parking strips
e. Intersections
f. Bus stops
g. Designated disabled parking spaces
i. Exception: If the individual currently possesses a valid disabled parking sticker that is properly displayed on his/her TFD assigned vehicle
h. Designated loading zones
i. Access to garbage or recycling containers, loading docks and mailboxes
j. Posted “No Parking Anytime” and/or areas marked with red curb paint
- In order to maintain adequate sight distances for pedestrians and other vehicles, TFD personnel shall observe these distance requirements when parking near the following areas:
- Vehicles and/or apparatus parked in violation of the guidelines set forth in this document may be ticketed.

Personal Vehicles
- TFD personnel shall park his/her personal vehicle:

b. ___________ - TFD personnel shall not park other personal vehicles and/or trailers, including but not limited to recreational vehicles (RV), motor homes, boats, utility or horse trailers, in apparatus bays or station parking lots without the prior approval of _________.
- TFD personnel shall not park their personal vehicles in designated disabled parking spaces unless s/he currently possesses a valid “disabled” parking sticker assigned to his/her personal vehicle.
- TFD personnel shall not park any vehicle or property at any TFD station or facility or any City owned property in an attempt to sell the vehicle or property.

b. In a way that does not disturb the surrounding neighbors, business owners or community groups

a. Station Captains may allow parking of these vehicles and/or trailers provided that parking of such vehicles and/or trailers--
i. Does not disrupt or impact TFD operations.
ii. Does not disrupt or impact the surrounding neighborhood and/or community meeting rooms
iii. Allows adequate parking for citizens and other TFD staff
iv. Is limited to the hours the TFD member is on shift
Parking in Traffic Lanes
- If while on routine, non-emergency TFD business there is no adequate on- street parking available, either in unrestricted or time restricted zones, TFD personnel shall:

a. Park vehicles and/or apparatus in the outside moving lane next to parked cars on multi-lane streets or highways
b. Designate a driver to stay in the vehicle or apparatus at all times so it can be moved if necessary

d. Use traffic cones carried on TFD apparatus in accordance with TFD Policy 5031 when apparatus must be parked in a traffic lane

Parking at Fire Headquarters/Station 1

- TFD personnel assigned to stations with community rooms shall be mindful of maintaining adequate parking spaces at all times for citizens and community members who use the community conference rooms.
Parking at the TFD Training Center
- TFD personnel parking personal vehicles or TFD vehicles and apparatus at the TFD Training Center shall:
a. Park in a manner that does not disrupt or interfere with drill ground activities
b. Use on-street parking or the overflow parking area east of the building when instructed to do so by the TFD training staff
Parking at the Fire Communication Center (FCC) or Emergency Operations Center (EOC):
1. TFD uniform personnel assigned to FCC shall:
- Other TFD personnel coming to FCC or EOC for TFD business shall park TFD vehicles or apparatus:
a. Adhere to the guidelines set forth in this document for parking personal vehicles
b. Park his/her personal vehicle in areas assigned by the FCC Manager or FCC Supervisor
c. Place a TFD parking placard on the dashboard of his/her personal vehicle
in designated “official vehicles only” areas.
