Mission of the marine corps
Trained, organized, and equipped for offensive amphibious employment and as a force of readiness
7 functions of USMC
1) provide fleet marine forces
2) provide detachments and security dets

4) provide marine forces for airborne operations
5) develop across branches doctrine, tactics, techniques, equipment for airborne ops
6) expand peacetime components to meet wartime needs

Location of MEFs
1- MARFORPAC: SoCal (1st MARDIV CP/29P, 1st MLG all, 3rd MAW Miramar/CP) and AZ (3rd MAW, 1st MLG)
2- MARFORCOM: Carolinas (2nd MARDIV, MAW, MLG)
3- MARFORPAC: Japan (3rd MARDIV, 1st MAW, 3rd MLG) and HI (MARDIV, MAW)
4th MARDIV, MAW, MLG in NOLA
MAGTF
Flexible expeditionary formation of varying size and capability according to mission, specifically equipped for rapid deployment by air or sea
SPMAGTF
Non-standing, when situations arise for which existing units aren’t appropriate or available
Usually not bigger than a MEU
Missions: HA/DR, NEO, security, disaster relief

Mediterranean - Naples
Indian Ocean - Diego Garcia
WestPac - Guam and Saipan
Mission: MPF
MPF MAGTF supports national maritime strategy of protecting key naval choke points and sea lines of communication, by airlift of MAGTF and Navy elements, Navy support elements, and naval coastal warfare units with equipment at AAA and offload equipment and supplies aboard MPS

Mission of HQMC
To advise and assist the commandant in discharging those responsibilities required by law and higher order as described in US code title 10
Mission: MCCDC
Develop fully integrated marine corps war fighting concepts and capabilities including doctrine, organization, training and education, materiel, leadership, personnel, and facilities to enable the marine corps to field combat-ready forces
Mission: MarCorSysCom
To serve as the commandant’s principal agent for equipping the operating forces to accomplish their warfighting mission
