Offender are put to work removing graffiti by way of punishment for the crimes they had commited, that is called a community payback. A third of offenders on community sentences end up reoffending within a year. Half of offenders on drug treatment reoffend within a year. In 20 states across US offenders are put into jail for 1 or 2 days if they don’t stick to the conditions of their community orders.
