10 Differences Between Fireplaces Flashcards
10 Difference b/w Insert Fireplace and Direct Vent
1) Draft hood vs no draft hood.
2) Atmospheric vs Direct Vent.
3) DSS vs No DSS.
4) Masonry or factory-built chimney vs any location that maintains proper clearance.
5) Thermopile vs Thermocouple and Thermopile.
6) Direct vent contains a fast acting thermocouple and the insert does not.
7) The manifold pressure for the direct vent is on the gas valve and the manifold pressure for the insert is hidden on the side.
8) Insert vent material is double wall aluminum flex liner or B-Vent and direct vent material is direct vent rigid and flex pipe material.
9) Insert is negative pressure and the direct vent is positive pressure.
10) Backdraft can occur with the insert fireplace where it cannot with the direct due to venting
11) Direct vent is more efficient than insert
