10-16a Teaching Workshop Flashcards
Goals need to be a part of the documentation process
Short-term: interventions
Prognosis
Diagnosis: how impairment relates to function and participation
Why do we write goals?
Motivating patients by demonstrating progress with short-term goals
Define and communicate purpose of POC (Collaborative)
Facilitate management of patient’s progression
To determine the efficacy of your intervention (If the PT’s interventions are progressing to end goal)
Satisfy requirements for reimbursement and meet standards of accrediting bodies (What your level of skill will provide)
What are the kinds of time frames for goal writing?
Long term goals: the end of the episode of care, multiple weeks
(Outpatient: 6 weeks, 12 weeks; Inpatient: 9-12 days; Usually a month or more out, thinking of end point)
Short term goals: over shorter period of time (Weeks or a few sessions, Acute musculoskeletal injuries)
Session goals: that day (Focus for current session
What you’re working towards, how it relates to other goals)
