1 way repeated measures non parametric ANOVA Flashcards
what are the characteristics for a repeated measures ANOVA to be carried out?
continuous DV and categorical IV > within participants > violation of assumptions of paired t test > more than 2 groups > Friendman test > post hoc Wilcoxon tests if ANOVA is significant
how are scores ranked in a within ppts design?
for each ppt their own scores in each conditions are ranked from lowest (1) to highest (3) > mean of ranks used for scores that are the same (1.5) > add up the sum of the ranks for each group > divide by the number in each to get the mean ranks
what is the output from SPSS?
mean rank, chi square statistic, df, asymp sig (p value)
how are the SPSS outputs written out?
X2 (df) = [X2 value], p = [p value]
if the friedman’s test is significant what tests are then run?
non parametric wilcox on tests
what outputs are reported for the post hoc wilcoxon tests?
median value, Z value, p value
what alpha p value is used for the wilcoxon t test?
bonferroni corrected alpha of 0.016
list the steps to run a repeated measures non parametric ANOVA
ANALYSE > NON PARAMETRIC TESTS > LEGACY DIALOGS > K RELATED SAMPLES. click on Friedman test. move each variable over to ‘test variables box’
list the steps to run post hoc Wilcoxon tests if the ANOVA is significant
ANALYSE > NON PARAMETRIC TESTS > LEGACY DIALOGS > 2 RELATED SAMPLES. move variables across into pairs to have 2x test pairs. click Wilcoxon test type
the wilcox on signed rank test output gives the mean rank for ______ and ______ pairs
negative, positive
