A famous symbol found in a church in Rome.

Christ is on the cross and his face is very bright because it is about life not death.
The Cross as Forgiveness… (explain)
Jesus gave his life to forgive everyones sins - even Adam and Eve’s.
The Cross and the Disciples… (explain)
12 doves are on the cross which represents the disciples who were filled with the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.
The Vine as Christ… (explain)
The green vine down the mosaic is a symbol of Jesus because he said ‘I am the vine’ (John 15:5)
The Vine as Church… (explain)
The Church only has life through Christ. Mary and John and other people are around the cross, this shows that the Church is for everyone;
Heaven on Earth… (explain)
The green life is meant to remind us of the Garden of Eden and our relationship with God.
Overcoming Evil… (explain)
Ancient Romans used to hang rags on trees to keep forces of evil away. The way Christ is hung out shows he is overcoming evil and achieving eternal life for us.
