  • unemployment was rising & Nazis offered public works to reduce it
  • many feared communism, & support for it was growing

A
  • support of industrialists (frightened of communism), gave financial backing
  • made promises to various groups in society (eg. unemployed = jobs, businesses = restored profits, farmers = higher prices for produce)
  • propaganda (eg. radio broadcasts, posters, rallies, parades)
  • organisation - reorganised in 20s, & local leaders were well trained
  • strong leader & excellent speaker
  • opposition was weak & divided
