Technical Support
Do standardized tasks and help the organization adapt to environmental changes; Support the work of the operating core but aren’t directly related to the performance of the work

Private Ownership
Owner has the right to establish the business’s purpose; Owner can do what they want as long as its legal
Public Ownership
A business that has stock that the public can purchase through a stock exchange
Govt Ownership
Business is directly owned by the govt; Indirectly owned by the people living in the area bc they pay taxes
Unit Production
Production/provision of services is customer-centered on an individual basis
- AKA pt-centered care
Massed Production
Production of a large volume of goods/services
Process Production
Production of large quantities of liquids or gasses
Culture
Learned patterns of social interaction that normally occur w/in an organization
What are the stages of business development?
1) Craft Stage
- Organization is small
- Little if any division of labor
- All members/workers are equally competent in providing services
2) Entrepreneurial Stage
- Division of labor is now necessary
3) Bureaucratic Stage
- There’s a hierarchy of authority
- Jobs become highly specialized
- Work standardization
4) Divisionalized Stage
- Manifests as vertical integration
5) Adhocracy/Matrix Stage
- Specialists are arranged by specialty
- An advantage of this stage is the integration of service and administration
