- grant persons access to any part of the plane (for safety)
- refuse passengers

- responsible for safety of all crew, pax and cargo on board, as soon as he arrived on board until he leaves the plane.
- not allow persons under influence
- responsible for operation from moment ac ready to move for purpose of taxiing prior TO until ac comes to rest and engines are shut down.
- sterile flight deck when necessary
- final responsibility for functions, duties and tasks associated with operational control of the flight.
- do not stimulate abnormals
- operational procedures are complied
- checklists are used and complied
- pre flight inspection has been carried out
- security measures are properly fulfilled
- adhere to crew healthy precautions
- apply CRM principles
- pax briefing is given prior TO
- non smoking policy on board is adhered
- drugs are not administered
- make optimum use of the opportunities and facilities for rest

- ac is airworthy (ATL, CRS, MEL)
- manuals on board
- space based facilities, ground facilities and services required for planned flight are available
- MFAs
- fuel and oil quantities
- destination / alternate minimas
- deicing / anti icing
- oxygen requirements
- load distribution and secured
- weight of ac is not limited in terms of its performance.
