Q

Describe Philip II’s relationship with Elizabeth

A

Philip II didn’t mind Elizabeth at first, he stopped the Pope from excommunicating her, and even asked for her hand in marriage. He soon realised that she wouldn’t restore Catholicism, and turned against her for many reasons, and so gave Pope Pius V permission to excommunicate her in 1570.
