Difference between humane handling and human slaughter?
A
humane handling = includes handling and equipment (animal welfare, improves quality of meat)
humane slaughter = reqs stunning prior to being shackled, hoised, thrown, cast or cut (prevent needless suffering)

Describe the requirement for human handling
A
- Having and maintaining proper equipment
- Must have good footing on all flooring
- Other handling equipment to move animals: electric prods, slappers can be used but do so as little possible -> minimize handling!
- Must have access to water in ALL holding pens, if held over 24 hours must be fed, pens must have room for animal to lie down if held overnight

Describe how ritual slaughter is different from conventional slaughter.
A
No stunning is used -> animal suffers loss of consciousness by simultaneous and instantaneous severance of the carotid arteries with a sharp instrument
