Education:
Limits of competence
Psychologist cannot agree to lead a workshop in any area which is had little direct experience clinical experience
Should not advertise as expert if only treated a few people with the disorder
Teach a specific class at college course
Teaching a course they know very little about only because no one else was available to teach it
Students/Supervisees & disclosure of personal information
Psychologists are prohibited from requiring students to disclose personal information
*Unless the requirements are clearly stated in admissions/promotion materials or is necessary to evaluate assistance for student whose personal problem may be interfering with their education or training, or pose a threat to others
Is it ethical for a faculty member to question students about their mental state when the student has exhibited a number of behaviors suggestive of depression and suicidal ideation?
Yes
*if there is more information about potential suicidality and student is making bizarre comments in class
Feedback:

Timely and adequate feedback about performance
Ensure evaluations are based on actual performance on relevant and establish program requirements
When can a psychologist dismiss an intern or degree candidate for inadequate performance?
Only if they supervisee has received information on what level of performance is expected
Only if student has received prior warning that performance was problematic
