- 2008 target case: sued for 6 million $ due to broken online shop

Web Accessibility
A
Web accessibility means that websites, tools and technologies are designed and developed so that people with disabilities can use them. More specifically, people can:
- perceive, understand, navigate and interact with the Web
- contribute to the Web
Web accesibility also benefits people without disabilities

Accessibility: Alt texts
A
- Images not bad for accessibility - they increase comprehension for most audiences
Rules for alternative texts:
- be accurate, equivalent, succint
- do not be redundant
- do not use phrases “Image of” or “graphic of”
- present content as well as function
- depends on context
- always declare the alt attribute
Special Image usages exist
- Image maps: One image with multiple link areas, e.g. a world map
- background images
- logos
