001-YellowTheory Flashcards
-001_White/Orange - Basic Sparring Drills - Basic Theory
- Theory 1: Open and closed stance
- Theory 2: Chase the front side
- Theory 3: Moving forward to reach a target
- Theory 4: Moving backward to reach a target
- Theory 5: Avoid the basic kick attacks
- Theory 6: Kick many times
-002_White/Orange - Basic Sparring Drills What is the dynamic theory @ white and Orange belt?
- 1) Bouncing with
- 2) forward, backward and
- 3) side to side movements
-003_Yellow/Green - Intermediate Sparring Drills What is the Intermediate theory @ Yellow and Green belt?
- Theory 7: 360 Roundhouse to reach a target
- Theory 8: Turn Back kick to reach a target
- Theory 9: Make them miss, make them pay
- Theory 10: Diagonals to avoid a front side attack and then attack back
- Theory 11: Diagonals to avoid a flank side attack and then attack back
-004_Yellow/Green - Intermediate Sparring Drills What is the dynamic theory @ Yellow and Green belt?
- 1) Bouncing with steps, and switches
- 2) basic check movements and
- 3) Theory of switch and kick
-005_Blue/Purple - Counter Sparring Drills What is the Counter theory @ Blue and Purple belt?
- Theory 14: Counter an attack to the flank
- Theory 15: Counter and attack to the front side
- Theory 16: Double up
- Theory 17: Danger Zone
- Theory 18: Using Check Starts to determine reaction and necessary attack.
- Theory 19: Using Dynamics to confuse opponents and disguise attacks.
- Theory 20: Using dynamics for pacing
-006_Blue/Purple - Counter Sparring Drills Theory 16: Double up What are the finishes for doubling up @ Blue and Purple belt? Why use doubling up?
Sparring notes
1: Finishes - Round and Double finishes -
- 1) Roundhouse
- 2) Fast kick
- 3) Pop kick
- 4) Nada Bon (360 Roundhouse)
- 5) Double kick
- 6) Fast Double kick
- 7) Pop Double kick
- 8) Double Nada Bon kick
Doubling up is used to continue to score, maintain the momentum of the match and an opponet on defense is less likely to be able to score back.
-007_Blue/Purple - Counter Sparring Drills What are the check starts for Blue and Purple belts? Why do we use the check starts? When?
Sparring notes 2:
Check Start – starting techniques
1) Basic check
2) Front Shoulder check – Fast kick
3) Rear shoulder check – Roundhouse kick
4) Turn shoulder check – Back kick check
Note (purpose Check start – gauge opponent reaction) – Provides valuable assessment of effective types of kicks or attack - Checking to see if kick can connect or setup for a complimentary kick to connect. If an opponet doesn’t react or react slow the check kick can be effective, but if the opponet reacts strongly then a complementary kick can be used to follow the check motion.
Use check throught out the match, the checks become more effective as the match continues and the opponents become tired.
- 1) Attacks
- 2) Retreats
- 3) Nothing
-008_Blue/Purple - Counter Sparring Drills What are the dynamic techniques @ Blue and Purple belt?
Sparring notes 3:
acronym is Wii DoubleD SM
- (W(whojin/Chunjin),
- i (inching),
- i (in & out),
- Double D (double drop) and
- SM (stop motion)
Bouncing with varying rhythms using these techniques
- 1) Whojin/Chunjin
- 2) Inching
- 3) In & Outs
- 4) Double Drop
- 5) Stop Motion
-009_Brown/Red - Back Kick Sparring Drills
What is the Back Kick theory @ Brown and Red belt?
- Theory 21:Turn Back Kick to attack a target
- Theory 22:Turn Back Kick to counter attack a target
- Theory 23:Double Up
- Theory 24: Short and long danger Zone
- Theory 25: Check motions to determine reaction and necessary attack.
- Theory 26: Using varying rhythms and check motions to mask attacks

What are the finishes for doubling up @ Brown and Red belt? Why use doubling up?
Sparring notes 4:
Finishes - Round and Double finishes -
- 1) Roundhouse
- 2) Fast kick
- 3) Pop kick
- 4) Nada Bon

Dynamic application (Red)
Sparring notes 6: Bouncing with varying rhythms uses these techniques (S-H-A-K-Y)
- 1) Stick your neck out
- 2) Half Step
- 3) Angles (6+)
- 4) Knee Up/ Stomp Step
- 5) Yells
(3) Angles
- Diagonal stepback
- Diagonal whojin
- Diagonal step forward
- Diagonal step chunjin
- Side angle out
- Turn angle out
- Elite step (bonus move - does not count as one of the 6 dynamic angles)
