1. Introduction - Definition ‘ high prevalence - 50 % of school aged children have somatic symptoms in last 2 weeks Reccurrent symptoms 11 % girls and 5 % boys ( 12- 16 y)
Starts after 4 y - frequency by age :
5-9 y Stomachache
11- 13 y Headache and extremities + 10 % Chestpain
adilescent - HA + fatigue
most frequent underlying psychiatric issues - Anxiety / Depression
Mention : primary and secondary gain

Diagnoses to consider : Somatic Symptoms Disorder, Illness anxiety disorder, Functional Neurological Symptoms disorder Psychological factors affecting other medical condition

3. Discussion - case formulation according to BPS Model , Epidemiology, Functional assesment’ - Normal vs disorder , general assemnt required for DD , most frequent - first to check ( anxiety and depression )
