SP: muscles
LV: sinews
HT: blood vessels
KD: bones
If pt. has HT Blood Xu, their complexion will look
Dull
If pt. has HT Yang Xu, their complexion will look
Bright white
GB’s major function is to
receive bile from the LV and store and excrete it for diestion
When the GB is not regulated, it will manifest as these Sx
N/V, belching
How does LV Qi affect the flow of bile?
The flow of bile is dependent on the free flow of LV Qi
The GB is an extraordinary Yang organ for all of these reasons EXCEPT:
A. It does not deal with food, drink, and waste
B. It does not communicate with exterior via mouth, anus, urethra
C. It is the only Yang organ that stores
D. It includes the Marrow
D. Marrow is its own extraordinary Yang organ
This point is helpful for making decisions

Why might a Ma Huang Tang patient have a cough?
BC LU is in charge of diffusing and DESCENDING Qi and BF. However, LU LOATHES cold, so it closes the pores. The closing of the pores disables LU’s ability to descend Qi and BF, causing a cough.
Think of it like a straw. When you put your finger on the top of a straw and “close it,” you trap the liquid in the straw. So you take the “Ma Huang Tang,” to open the pores (causing sweats) and the Xing Ren in the formula enables the descent of Qi and BF.
